SRC VHF Marine Radio Dept. Transport Ireland

This 11 hour course covers all radio procedures from routine calls to urgency and distress calls, and includes the explanation and use of the new GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) requirements and equipment. You are legally required to hold the appropriate "Certificate of Competence" and "Authority to operate" license if using any form of a VHF radio (unless under the direct personal supervision of someone who holds the qualifications already).

To get the most out of doing a SRC VHF Marine Radio course like this it is best to follow it up with a practical course in Sail or Power. Also having Navigation, First Aid, Diesel engine or Sea Survival done can be beneficial as you can develop these skill in parallel with your other Seamanship Skills.
